Herbs for Sexual Desire?

Before modern pharmaceuticals came along, sexual dysfunction was treated naturally, in women as well as men.  There are a host of herbs that have been purported to increase libido.  More importantly though, there are many that have been proven to do it.

To clarify, erectile dysfunction is not the same as a lack of sex drive.  While many men feel the desire to have sexual relations, their bodies won’t comply either because of blood flow issues or nervous system impediments.  In this day and age, there is absolutely no problem finding medication to treat this kind of affliction.  Among the most surprising, and clinically proven, herbal remedies for this is watermelon.  Rich in citrulline, it relaxes and dilates blood vessels and works very much like ED medications but at terrific financial savings and in many cases, safer..

The desire to be sexual takes place in the brain.  In addition, there are a slew of factors that contribute to sexuality.  Chemical imbalances, blood flow, overall well-being and health to name a few.  Nevertheless, time and science have proven that there are some natural ingredients found in plants, trees, fruits, and herbs that can supplement what may be missing in the complex symphony of libido.

Fenugreek, an annual herb that grows naturally on the eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea, India, Morocco, Egypt and England, is an easily procured remedy.  In June 2011, a study at the Australian Centre for Integrative Clinical and Molecular Medicine, found that those who were administred Fenugreek extract twice daily for 6 weeks, got a 25% bump in libido over those who took the placebo.  Other herbs that have proven to do the same are FoTti, Horny Goat Weed (or Epimedium), and Ginseng.
